How To Do Daily Affirmations

We are so bombed with negativity day-after-day and so learning how to do daily affirmations is a powerful tool to get ahead of this. Saying a daily affirmation is an excellent way to stay in a state of spiritual wellness. Positive and healing affirmations may help you feel better about your life and more optimistic about your future.

Use Affirmations

A lot of individuals ask how to do daily affirmations and if saying a daily affirmation on a consistent basis may make a positive difference in their lives. The answer is yes.

What is a daily affirmation? It’s a positive idea of something you would like to believe about yourself which you don’t believe today. For example, if you would like to trust that you’re confident about your ability to handle yourself in any state of affairs but you don’t believe that today, a great daily affirmation maybe – “I’m now confident that I may successfully handle all states of affairs in my life.”

We all talk to ourselves each day. A lot of the things we tell ourselves are negative, damaging, and limiting. They prevent us from executing things and having things that we truly want in our lives.

A positive affirmation begins to get you to change your ideas about yourself and what is possible in your life. It’s essentially a form of positive self-talk that you’re using on a regular and where possible daily basis.

You’re training your mind to think differently about yourself and this has a positive overall impact on your subconscious thoughts over time.

Affirmation Rules Of Thumb

An Affirmation Is Positive

An affirmation has to be positive. If you’re shy, you would not say that you are no longer shy. You wish to affirm what you believe, not what you don’t want to believe. Using healing affirmations like, “I am really comfortable when I am with individuals”, or “I can easily talk to new individuals”, are good examples of affirmations that you can use.

Affirmations Are Used In The Present Tense

Words of affirmation have to be said in the present tense. You are affirming in the present tense what you would like to believe about yourself in the future.

Your subconscious mind takes what you state about yourself literally. If you continually tell yourself “I’m smart and I learn new things easily”, eventually you will discover that you are able to comprehend fresh ideas easily and without any conflict.

Using Affirmations Should Be Done On A Regular Basis

You are attempting to change your unconscious thoughts about yourself with favourable self-talk.

This isn’t going to happen overnight. You have to say positive affirmations on a regular basis for it to have any effect. It is really an excellent idea to pick out a daily affirmation and say it to yourself a lot of times throughout the day so it starts to seep down into your subconscious thinking.

Ways to discover ideas for words of affirmation

You can use words based on spiritual encouragement or inspirational sayings and quotes to help you develop a daily affirmation. For example, the idea that the higher power loves all of its creations may be turned into “I’m lovingly supported by Spirit in each aspect of my life.”

The inspirational idea that there is no limit to what the mind may conceive and accomplish may be turned into “I am able to easily and successfully accomplish anything I set my mind to”.

Another way to discover ideas for words of affirmation is to read really good self-help books that write on the topic of positive affirmations.

The Bible is one book that surpasses many in regards to positive affirmations, especially the Book of Pslams and Proverbs. Most of the scripture is powerful to use for your own positive affirmation ideas. Just change the context of the scripture to reference yourself and you have an affirmation you can use specific to you.

For example, Philippians 4:19, KJV: “But my God shall supply all your need according to his riches in glory by Christ Jesus.” I can relate this into a positive affirmation for me by saying “but my God shall supply all my needs according to his riches in glory by Christ Jesus”. As I make this a daily affirmation eventually my subconscious mind identifies completely with this affirmation.

One of my favourites books in this genre of self-help which shows how to use affirmations is the book ‘The Game of Life and How to Play It’ by Florence Scovel Shinn. There are many great affirmations the author has provided in her book and these affirmations relate to different aspects of life.

An Assortment of Affirmations Is Fine – But Take It Slowly

You have the opportunity to use different affirmations for the various aspects of your life. You have the ability to create and say affirmation for your health, job, relationships, finances, children, family or any additional aspects or areas of your life that are significant to you. Just be sure to take it slowly and not overwhelm yourself.

Your thoughts about yourself are the result of a lot of years of thinking in a particular way. It is going to time to alter your thinking.

Pick out a few areas and the affirmations that you wish to work with and stick to them till you feel they are working for you. Then you are ready to let those go and work with other areas of your life through the affirmations you feel appropriate.

Declaring a daily affirmation isn’t something that you do for a week, a month, or a couple of months. At least not if you’re serious about changing your life for the better.

Speaking affirmations is a great tool that you should continue to use on a regular basis.

Make it a habit to the point that it becomes a natural way of life for you to speak a positive affirmation over your life or over a situation you are experiencing.

Speak affirmations with intent so that you see the changes in your life in ways you least expected. Feel free to share any experiences you have had with affirmations and comment here.
